EnOcean Alliance invites to Open House Event in London hosted by IBM

/ Press Releases

The EnOcean Alliance will be holding its next Open House Exhibition and a free of charge CIBSE accredited CPD course for building professionals on 24th April 2017 at IBM South Bank, London.

San Ramon, CA – March 30, 2017 – “From Smart Buildings to Cognitive Buildings” is the guiding theme of the EnOcean Alliance Open House Event 2017 (24th April, IBM South Bank, London). The organization is actively supporting the further development of EnOcean energy harvesting wireless standard for energy-efficient building solutions. Despite the growing demands for intelligent buildings, many are not build nor used as efficiently as they might, which is important considering we spend 90% of our time indoors, and operations account for 70% of a building’s total cost over its life. Moreover, only 66% of commercial space is actually being used, and while buildings account for 42% of all energy use, up to 50% of that energy is wasted. To enhance the energy performance of buildings, the EnOcean Alliance arranges its third Open House Event, hosted by EnOcean Alliance promoter member IBM. The event includes an exhibition, an excellent range of speakers of experts in intelligent building solutions as well as a CPD course and enables members of the EnOcean Alliance and building professionals to learn more about solutions for smart and cognitive buildings on the EnOcean self-powered wireless standard IEC/ISO 14543-3-10.

The exhibition will offer a hands-on technology experience and discussions with key players and experts in energy efficient, sustainable buildings and cognitive building solutions. 13 member companies of the EnOcean Alliance will be showing the latest flexible, cost-effective, energy efficient solutions for green buildings – including Beckhoff, Control Network Solutions (CNS), Digital Concepts, Embedded Intelligence (BSC), EasyIO, EnOcean, Honeywell, IBM, Pressac, Rohm, Smart Buildings, Thermokon, Vertuoz by Engie and Wago.

« There is a rapid development of intelligent buildings and soon they will be able to integrate IoT devices independently, generate a large amount of reliable data und use this information for building optimization. The Open House Event is an excellent opportunity to leverage the combined expertise of all members of the EnOcean Alliance, helping to create greater awareness of environmental issues and energy costs and to develop new exciting solutions for smart and cognitive buildings, » commented Graham Martin, EnOcean Alliance Chairman and CEO.

A broad range of interoperable wireless products will be on display enabling attending specifiers, installers, integrators, contractors, consultants and architects to get practical experience and advice from EnOcean Alliance member companies on how to simply and quickly save energy and increase efficiency in existing and new buildings. Using self-powered wireless switches and sensors enabled by the EnOcean standard building professionals can reduce planning, installation and rework time and costs – even retrofit without any disruption. These switches and sensors easily integrate into all building automation systems and have already been successfully deployed in over 400,000 buildings across the globe.

Following the Open House Exhibition, experts in cognitive building solutions will speak about the latest IoT solutions and key building projects in the UK using self-powered wireless switches and sensors enabled by the EnOcean standard. Speakers will include Dr. Claire Penny from IBM Watson IoT, Carole Le Gall from Vertuoz by Engie, Stephan Hayes from Beckhoff Automation UK, Mark Brown from ISS (Intregrated Service Solutions), Ravi Lakhani from Schroders, Dean Laurent from Arcadia Group UK and Mark Davenport from Smart Buildings UK.

Free of charge CIBSE Accredited CPD Course

Taking place from 2.00pm to 6.00pm, the exhibition highlights the commitment of the EnOcean Alliance to the development of cognitive green buildings. During the exhibition, the Alliance will also be offering a CPD course entitled « Self-powered wireless sensors & switches for sustainable buildings – Consideration for Building Professionals ». Running for one hour from 4.30 pm, the training session is free to attend but requires pre-registration.
To register for the exhibition and/or the CPD course, please email dita.nursanti@enocean.com.

About EnOcean Alliance

Leading companies worldwide from the building sector collected to form the EnOcean Alliance and establish innovative automation solutions for sustainable building projects – and so to make buildings more energy-efficient, more flexible and lower in cost. The core technology of the Alliance is energy harvesting wireless technology for flexibly positioned and service-free sensor solutions. The EnOcean Alliance aims to internationalise the energy harvesting wireless technology, and is dedicated to creating interoperability between the products of OEM partners. Basis for this is the international standard ISO/IEC 14543-3-1X, which is optimised for wireless solutions with ultra-low power consumption and energy harvesting. More than 400 companies currently belong to the EnOcean Alliance. The headquarters of the non-profit organisation is located in San Ramon, California.
