EnOcean Alliance strengthens Japanese footprint by welcoming NIFCO as a Promoter Member and to its Board of Directors

/ Press Releases

San Ramon, CA, USA – Jan 17th , 2022. The EnOcean Alliance and NIFCO are opening the next chapter in their successful collaboration. The Japanese innovation leader becomes a Promoter Member and expands the Board of Directors as of January 1st, 2022.

NIFCO was founded in 1967 for the purpose of manufacturing and selling industrial plastic fasteners. These products have changed the automobile manufacturing process, leading to cars with greater safety, less weight, more comfort, and reduced environmental impact. NIFCO is further expanding the use of this technology to spark innovations in home life and appliances, sports, and outdoor equipment.

As part of this expansion, NIFCO has been closely working within the EnOcean Alliance and with EnOcean technology to create innovative new products and services based on the energy harvesting wireless technology. For example, NIFCO Group is collaborating with other companies and conducting demonstration experiments to develop a business designed to easily monitor elderly people by embedding shoes and canes with NIFCO products equipped with wireless, battery-free sensors.

The EnOcean Alliance is an international association of over 400 leading companies in the building and IT industries founded in 2008. The non-profit organization is committed to enabling and promoting interoperable, maintenance-free, and proven eco-systems based on the wireless EnOcean radio standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3-10/11). Its Board of Directors unites representatives of leading international solution providers in the areas of Smart Buildings, Smart Homes, and Smart Spaces, including BSC Computer, Eltako, EnOcean, IBM, Microsoft, and T-Systems Multimedia Solutions.

Strengthening Japanese Footprint

“NIFCO has been a member of the EnOcean Alliance for over 3 years now and the company has extensive experience in developing using the EnOcean technology, which enables innovative IoT solutions. On this basis and with its clear endorsement of the EnOcean wireless standard and one of our key and most active members in Japan, NIFCO is an ideal addition strengthening our Board of Directors,” explains Graham Martin, Chairman, and CEO of the EnOcean Alliance.

New Alliance Board Member Takaaki Nakamura, R&D Manager NIFCO adds: “We are proud to strengthen our partnership and look forward to actively shaping the EnOcean Alliance in our new roles. As the only Japanese board member, we want to drive important momentum in our Asia-Pacific region. The growing market of innovative IoT solutions based on maintenance-free EnOcean technology presents excellent opportunities for us.”
